Timing Is Important
It’s important to time your alterations right. Bring your gown in too early, and you might not end up with a proper fit…(weight changes after your gown is altered could affect the overall look and fit of your dress). Bring your gown in too late, and you run the risk of not allowing enough time to have all the changes made. We recommend allowing two months from the time of your first fitting to your wedding, as an ideal timeline to make all the alterations. Also keep in mind that the amount of times you need depends on the amount of work required.

Who to Go to?
Since we alter only the wedding gowns we sell, we are specialists — in other words, your local dry cleaner, friend or part-time seamstress might not know the intricacies of formal wear. Wedding gowns have so many complex details — from boning to hems and bustles — it’s best to use a professional who has seen and worked on such gown components in the past.
What to Bring?
When you’re ready for alterations, bring your gown, shaping undergarments (slips, bustier, etc), shoes, and accessories. With all of the pieces in place, it’ll be easier to envision your overall wedding day look — you should have your shaping undergarments and shoes on hand in order to obtain the proper fit and length of your gown, and your hair accessories or veil will help ensure you’ve got the right balance.
Who to Bring?
Your fittings are an exciting time and it is natural to want to share them with your family and friends. You might want to have your mom, a trusted relative, or friend accompany you to your fittings, just for another set of eyes and another reliable opinion. We recommend bringing only one person with you.
Endless Possibilities
Many gowns need at least some sort of alteration, but keep in mind your alteration can vary greatly, depending on how many changes need to be made. But if your expectations are in order you should be ready for your wedding day with a gown that fits flawlessly. Sharon, with her 25 years experience is accustom to reworking fabrics, opening up seams, and can practically redesign a dress.
So don’t trust your alterations to just anyone…select Ella Park Alterations and you’ll be happy you did!
Save On Your Alterations Costs
Our past brides have told us our alteration costs are less expensive than most bridal stores. See for your self. Sharon will be happy to quote you an estimate during your try-on fitting appointment.
Quotes for alterations will only be performed in-house but Sharon will be happy to give you an idea of the cost if requested.
Please note, appointments are required to avoid unnecessary waiting. We normally schedule appointments 2 weeks in advance due to the high demand for our services. All alterations fees are due and payable at the time of your first fitting. To schedule your appointment, call Sharon at 812.853.8595 or use the form below!
